Q: What is your role at CapTel?
A: I work as the CapTel Outreach Marketing Manager at Ultratec. My job is to help people understand how our captioned telephones can make talking on the phone easier for those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Q: What brought you to this role?
A: I started working with Ultratec in 2000 as a Marketing Specialist. I have over 20 years of experience in helping people communicate better. Having a hearing loss myself, I really want to help others in my community, which led me to my current job.
Q: What changes in technology have you seen over time?
A: I’ve seen a lot of changes in technology! At first, we had simple phone services for deaf people. Now, we have advanced captioning technology that helps people read what others are saying on the phone. Smartphones and internet services have made it even easier for us to connect with others, you can even get captions on mobile devices.
Q: What is the best part of your work?
A: The best part of my job is helping people communicate better. I love hearing stories from users who feel more confident and independent because of CapTel. It’s great to know that I’m making a difference in their lives.
