There are new changes to the CapTel program in Iowa. CapTel phones can now be obtained by voucher or by direct purchase. In addition, businesses, agencies, and schools, as well as individuals who wish to purchase a second phone, may also purchase a CapTel phone. Read on for details!

There are 3 options to get a CapTel phone:

OPTION 1:

Apply through your State’s Equipment Program

Iowa Telecommunications Access (TAI)

Iowa residents may qualify to receive a voucher that covers 95 percent of the cost of a CapTel phone, and any additional accessories such as a headset and/or ringer, through the Telecommunications Access Iowa (TAI) equipment voucher program. OPTION 3:

Qualify for a CapTel Phone at No Cost

People who cannot hear over the phone may be eligible to receive an Internet-based CapTel phone at no cost.  Requires high-speed Internet access and, in some cases, dial-tone telephone service.
