Type of phone lines that work with CapTel 200

The CapTel 200 is designed to work with a standard analog telephone line, the type of line most commonly found for household telephones.
It also can be used with a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) with a DLS filter.
CapTel 200 is not compatible with VOIP or digital cable telephone services. VOIP users should use the CapTel 800i instead.
Connection to any telephone line other than analog may damage the CapTel 200 or the telephone system, and will void the CapTel 200 warranty. Exception: Using CapTel 200 in 2-Line mode as directed below.

Using CapTel 200 with DSL

Using CapTel with DSL

The CapTel 200 phone may be used with a DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) as long as a "DSL filter" is placed on the line between the CapTel 200 and the DSL connection. DSL filters are very common, and are placed on all telephones in a home where DSL service is connected. Your DSL provider supplies these filters at the time of connection. In some cases, DSL subscribers may elect to have a "Whole House" filter installed; whole house DSL filters are compatible with the CapTel 200. If you have or are considering DSL, please check with your DSL provider to make sure you have the proper DSL filter.

Requirements for using CapTel 200 in 2-Line mode:

To use 2-Line CapTel:

You must have a CapTel 200 telephone (Model 200).
You must have two separate telephone lines, each with its own separate telephone number, in your home or office. The second line cannot merely be an extension line.
YAt least one of the two lines (Line 2) must be analog or DSL with filter. Line 1 can be analog, VOIP, or DSL with analog filter.

Digital telephone lines such as in a PBX system are not compatible with the CapTel 200 phone and may damage the telephone or telephone network. If you are installing the CapTel 200 in an office or residential facility environment, check with the telephone system administrator to ensure that an analog port is available. A digital subscriber line (DSL) may be used with an appropriate DSL filter.
