Turning Spanish Captions On / Off

In order to make calls with Spanish-to-Spanish captions, you must turn Spanish captioning ON.

To turn Spanish captions on:

1. With the handset hung up, press * 7 7 2 6 on the CapTel dialing keypad (*SPAN). The display screen will light up and indicate that Spanish captions are turned on.
2. To turn Spanish captions off, press * 7 7 2 6 again. Captioning will revert to English.

NOTE: If the display screen stays blank after pressing *7 7 2 6, follow the alternative directions below to turn Spanish captioning ON / OFF.

To turn Spanish captions off:

1. With the handset hung up, open the panel covering the mini-keyboard at the bottom of the CapTel phone.
2. Press and hold down the "shift" key (located on the left side of the mini-keyboard) at the same time as pressing the CapTel MENU key.
3. With the "shift" key held down, continue pressing the MENU key until you see "Spanish Captions" on the CapTel display.
4. Press the button next to ON to make a call with Spanish captions.
Press the button next to OFF to make a call with English captions.
5. Press the button next to EXIT to leave the menu system. Close the cover on the mini-keyboard.

You are now ready to make calls with captions in Spanish.

To Get Spanish Captions on Incoming Calls:

If your caller is calling you from within the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, or the Virgin Islands, and you want to receive captions in Spanish, give your callers this number:

If the Spanish voice caller is calling from any other country, and you want to receive captions in Spanish, the caller should dial the Country Code needed to make a call to the U.S. and then dial 608-204-2795 to reach a Spanish language captionist at the Captioning Service.
