
How it Works - CapTel 840iThe CapTel 840i works with a free Captioning Service to provide captions of everything your callers say.
The CapTel 840i connects to both your telephone service and to your Internet service. Every time you make/receive a telephone call, the phone automatically connects to the Captioning Service over the Internet. An operator at the Captioning Service uses voice recognition technology to generate captions of everything your caller says and send the captions back to your CapTel 840i phone. You enjoy conversations over the phone with the added help of captions. Making a Call with CapTel 840iJust pick up the handset and dial the phone number - same as you'd do with any other telephone. As you dial, the CapTel 840i automatically connects to the Captioning Service over the Internet connection. Captions appear to show you everything the other party says during the call. Answering a Call with CapTel 840iWhen the phone rings, pick up the handset to answer the call. The Captioning Service will automatically connect to the call over the Internet, and begin captioning everything your caller says. What Equipment & Services are Needed?High Speed Internet Access** Landline Telephone Service Standard Power Outlet NOTE: The outlets for the telephone, Internet, and power should be located close to one another, in the same room that you are planning to use the CapTel 840i. If outlets are located in separate rooms, network power adapters are available (at an additional cost) to help connect the CapTel 840i. |
